The short version
We only ask for the information we need to quote you, sell to you and support what we sell. We do not sell your information to anyone, we do not run advertising trackers on this site, and we do not send marketing email unless you ask us to.

What we collect, and why
When you request a quote or send an enquiry. We collect your name, email address, telephone number, company name and whatever you write in the message, together with the products on your list. We use this to price your enquiry, to reply to you, and to keep a record of what was quoted and when. Without it we cannot answer you.
When you place an order. In addition to the above we collect your billing and delivery address, and the details of what you ordered. We use this to fulfil the order, to issue an invoice, to arrange shipping, and to meet the record-keeping obligations that apply to a Canadian business.
Payment information. We do not see, handle or store your full card number. Card payments are processed by our payment provider, who collects the card details directly from you and returns only a confirmation, the last four digits, the card brand and a transaction reference. Those are what we keep against your order.
Technical information. Our web server keeps standard access logs: IP address, the pages requested, the date and time, and your browser's user-agent string. We use these to keep the site running, to diagnose faults and to detect abuse such as automated scraping or repeated failed sign-in attempts. We record the IP address and browser against a submitted quote or enquiry for the same reason.
We do not collect anything through this website that we have not listed here. There is no customer account or password on this site, so there is nothing of that kind for us to hold.
Cookies
This site uses a single, essential cookie. It stores a session identifier so the server can remember the contents of your cart between pages. It contains no personal information, it is not used for advertising, and it expires when you close your browser or after a period of inactivity.
Because this cookie is strictly necessary for the site to function, we do not ask for consent to set it, and there is no cookie banner. We run no analytics, advertising or social-media tracking scripts.
If you block cookies entirely, you can still browse the catalogue, but the cart will not remember items between pages.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is needed to do what you asked:
- Our payment provider, to take payment for an order.
- Couriers and freight carriers, to deliver what you bought — normally a name, address and telephone number.
- Our web hosting provider, which stores the site and its database on our behalf.
- Manufacturers and distributors, where a warranty claim or a return has to be registered against your unit.
- Professional advisers and government authorities, where we are required by Canadian law to disclose, for example to the Canada Revenue Agency.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not disclose it for anyone else's marketing.
Where your information is held
Our systems are hosted with a third-party provider whose servers may be located outside Canada, and our payment provider may process payment data outside Canada. Where information is held in another country it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to that country's courts and law-enforcement or national-security authorities. We choose providers that offer contractual protections comparable to what PIPEDA requires.
How long we keep it
- Quote requests and enquiries that do not become orders: up to two years, so we can recognise a returning enquiry and honour a price we previously gave.
- Orders, invoices and payment records: at least seven years, because Canadian tax and business-records law requires it.
- Web server logs: normally no more than twelve months.
When information reaches the end of its retention period we delete it or anonymise it.
Keeping it secure
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Administrator access is limited to named staff, protected by strong password hashing, rate-limited against guessing, and every change to a record is written to an audit log. Payment card data never reaches our servers.
No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may:
- Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct it if it is wrong or incomplete.
- Withdraw your consent to our use of it, subject to legal and contractual limits — we cannot, for instance, delete an invoice we are required to keep.
- Complain, first to us, and then to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca if you are not satisfied with our answer.
Write to dipesh@jtcomputers.net and we will respond within thirty days. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
Marketing
We do not add you to a mailing list because you requested a quote. If we ever send commercial email we will have asked you first, every message will identify us and carry a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing will take effect promptly — as Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires.
Children
This site sells business hardware and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority in their province.
Links to other sites
Where we link to a manufacturer's site or another third party, that site has its own privacy policy and we are not responsible for it. This policy covers only jtcomputers.net.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the home page.
